Our History The Tea Tree
Gully Football Club (The Gullies), then known as the Rifles, first
recorded game was The match was played on what was kindly described as "a fallow paddock at Modbury". For the record,
there were no umpires and the game started around 2pm with twenty

originally operated out of a tin shed at Memorial Oval and continued

Gully Football Club holds the distinction of being one of the
oldest continuously The Gullies originally wore the double blue colours and changed to red with a black trim in 1969. During the Second World War it combined with Hope Valley, and after the War played in the East Torrens Association which became Norwood North. In 1970 the Club moved to Pertaringa Oval where club-rooms were constructed to replace an old shed, and celebrated an 'A' team premiership in 1973. It became an inaugural member of the S.A.F.A. in 1978 and chose a new design of red and black vertical stripes. In 1987 the current black Guernsey with a red sash was selected. In 1988 it joined the SAAFL at level A6 and it took only eight seasons to reach A1. It stayed in Division 1 for 5 of the next 6 seasons then settled down in Division 2, celebrating ‘B’, ‘C’, ‘D’ and Under 17 premierships in 2001. Since then it has risen to A1 and fields 5 teams. The Gullies
are steep in history with many milestones including over 25, 200
game players - The Gullies have had over 20 players develop to play SANFL and a number to play AFL. The club has had a fair share of premiership success in various grades. The Tea Tree
Gully District Football Club has no paid employees and relies
